Zeeeeeens! Well, obviously this is not the correct spelling but it's how it's pronounced! We've been asked to make one for class hence why I'm writing this blog entry about it! Zines originated in the 1930's during and after the Great Depression... Ok, let's skip the history side of things!
Zines, short for fanzines/magazines, are small, handmade amateur publications which are purely made as a mean of expression and something to occupy yourself with for thousands of bored, cynical, creative, troubled, enthusiastic, and passionate individuals. They can be about anything, from; current fashion trends, music... Anything, which is an interesting and fun start off point for wannabe writers!
Long story short, they give a voice to the everyday person who is doing it for the love of doing it and not seeking or perhaps not even making profit from it!
